This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Another pretty and sad one from Mr。 Silvera。 I did enjoy reading this, but had mixed feelings about the stuff with Wade。 I was happy to see him be further fleshed out as the novel progressed, but the pacing with everything just felt off and it was hard for me to reconcile the way Griffin treated him and more importantly THOUGHT about him through most of the book。 3。5 stars!

Adam Silvera, who hurt you?? This book was painful yet beautiful。 Everyone deals with grief differently, and that was portrayed really well in this book。 Seeing Griffin, Wade, Jackson, and everyone else deal with their loss of Theo was an emotional roller coaster。

This book was sort of heart-wrenching in a way, definitely a tear-jerker。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Well, the love between Griffin and Wade was most definitely unexpected, but I really liked this book。 I’m just not completely sure if I’d prefer this relationship over Griffin and Jackson。 They could share a bond that no one would understand。 I liked reading about how they comforted each other while grieving。 I understood why it was easy for them。 They both loved the same person。 They understood each other more than anyone。 I think that if this book would’ve turned another direction at some poin Well, the love between Griffin and Wade was most definitely unexpected, but I really liked this book。 I’m just not completely sure if I’d prefer this relationship over Griffin and Jackson。 They could share a bond that no one would understand。 I liked reading about how they comforted each other while grieving。 I understood why it was easy for them。 They both loved the same person。 They understood each other more than anyone。 I think that if this book would’ve turned another direction at some point with Jackson and Griff, I’d give this a better rating。 But I’ve gotta admit that I was a little disappointed。 Still a good book though。 。。。more

Heartbreaking but loved it (╥_╥)One of the hardest book to read I have EVER came across but totally Worth what I experienced! I love wade!!!!Really liked the switching of past and present timelines, it really put me in some emotional tangle😂This book is entirely written from the perspectives of Griffin where how he tackle his grief of loving his love can be seen。Took me really 20 days to finish this book。 I couldn't go beyond 1 chapter without tearing up。 Would highly recommend it!Will make you Heartbreaking but loved it (╥_╥)One of the hardest book to read I have EVER came across but totally Worth what I experienced! A great book。 Even though it is more or less YA I still enjoyed it。 It was well written and I barely wanted to put it down。 Very sad obviously, but one expects that from Adam Silvera by now。I really enjoyed that it was written in two times, one the history, one the now。 It felt kind of authentic—apart from the end, which partially felt a bit hasty。

Catherine

As heartbreaking as expected。 Everything feels raw and so very live-able。 Definitely worth the read。

This was a wonderful, heartbreaking read, perfect to be read as an audiobook。 I love that I genuinely did not see the twist coming。 I'm not sure how I feel about it, but time will tell。 For now a solid 4 stars! Oh man。 This story is brutal。 Be prepared for your heart to be ripped out。 One thing I particularly loved about this book was the complexity of the characters。 As they go through unimaginable grief, they’re portrayed in such a real and raw way。 People aren’t perfect and have multifaceted aspects of their personality and life that we may not always see。 This book explores that idea through the lens of LGBTQ+ teens experiencing love and heartbreak。 A poignant and thought-provoking YA read。

Grieving, reminiscent, tender, and hauntingly good— History makes good use of raw emotion of losing someone you love at a young age; better than 7 stages of grief。Griffin's narration deals with such heaviness and his POV make me feel like I've known Theo or make me feel the things the way he did。 Silvera balanced this with witty jokes, but I'm not kidding that he hit hard when he wrote quotes about loss。Great characters, from friends to parents—who exemplify how to deal with gay teens to mournin Grieving, reminiscent, tender, and hauntingly good— History makes good use of raw emotion of losing someone you love at a young age; better than 7 stages of grief。Griffin's narration deals with such heaviness and his POV make me feel like I've known Theo or make me feel the things the way he did。 Silvera balanced this with witty jokes, but I'm not kidding that he hit hard when he wrote quotes about loss。Great characters, from friends to parents—who exemplify how to deal with gay teens to mourning ones。 Main character Griffin is a no-nonsense sympathetic casanova whose after the death of his best friend / boyfriend, is thrusted into finding comfort with his "enemy" / his ex boyfriend's boyfriend Jackson, who's from another city。 (I have a habit of making long sentences, I apologize。) He has OCD that's descripted very understandably & real。 Can I just say? His character was an ass; both in 'History' & 'Today'。 And the main character truly was Theo, he was interesting and had a good start with the Star Wars / Harry Potter differentiation。 He was sensitive, dedicated, and someone you'd look up to and love。 Him being the centerpoint of the story feels right because he's just molded as a perfect character。 Theo's boyfriend, Jackson, is someone I didn't understand。 Griffin had so much anger in him from the start that I didn't see what was coming for next。 And I was surprised。 Jackson was a surprising character。 Lastly, someone who stayed himself, Wayde was the MVP who had the short end of the stick。 For a story with four gay characters, you feel so much for Wayde because he's given up so much for others from start to finish。 He's very understanding but honest if he has to。 All four of them are a gem, Silvera crafted them as if they have their own universes rather than just follow Theo's。It's straightforward & appealing, especially to young queer readers。 There's quite a lot amount of sexuality: first sex, hookups, friends with benefits。 It was a problem but then I felt was appropriate。 But I had a major problem with Griff's personality and actions as he wasn't reasonable nor responsible。 He just dips and comes and goes。 It's like soft erotica for younger teens, opening up their mind about today's dating situation and just hope they learn about the exclusivity of sex。 The continuous twists in the story are dramatic but great, literarily。 It is what it is, it's a YA novel after all, I have mixed feelings throughout reading。 For the most part, it does so well on what works: the experience of a young gay love and the longingness & grief。 Adam Silvera writes it in such a way that is intimate & personal (like the four types of kisses, awe)。 Griffin's metamorphosis & musings are eloquent, and the situations really melts your heart。 It's beautifully written。 。。。more

Good character study。。。 by the end of the book is not possible to not feel for the main characters。 Drags a bit towards the third act but the end is solid。I felt so identified with many of the situations narrated in the book。 And at the same I wished I had things as clear as the main characters in the book (even if they feel lost sometimes they were much ahead to were I was at their age)。All in all, an emotional story beautifully written from the heart。 Loved it。

Now this is what you called a sad book。 This book was way more painful than They Both Die at the End。 It got me riding some waves of emotions that hit me to the core。 I just can’t explain what this book did to me。
